Brain Dump 2

Image
The other day I was sitting and thinking about things, as one does. I started thinking about something that really really boggles my mind. I was watching some video on some social media platform, and the video mentioned mechanical calculators. This really made me ask one question: how? I simply cannot wrap my head around how these engineers managed to add, subtract, divide and multiply with only mechanical parts. The amount of micro engineering to fit all these gears and chains inside of a shell.  I understand that the same logical processes are going on in digital calculators, but to see them happen physically is truly amazing to see.  Anyways, it is almost Thanksgiving break. I’m excited to go home for a few reasons: I miss my mom I miss my mom’s cooking I miss my gym The only issue is I have a seven hour drive back to New York ahead of me, and the drive back is worse than driving here. I usually stop in Angola, New York, which is around four hours away from Ada. From...

A week in ATL

As many of you know, this week I was shipped off to Atlanta, Georgia for the College Media Awards. An article I wrote was nominated for the interactive infographic I created for it. I ended up not winning the award, but ONU did win a few other awards. Since I didn’t win (I’m totally not bitter), I will be writing about the stuff we did in between the important events. Sunday: I arrived at the Columbus airport. We land in Atlanta late at night and take a car to the hotel. We check in and go to sleep. Monday: We woke up for the first keynote speaker. He spoke about the history of hip-hop, specifically in Atlanta. He just released a documentary where he interviewed people like Andre 3000 and Ce-lo Green about hip-hop in Atlanta.  After the speaker we attended the first individual award ceremony where ONU won 1st place and honorable mention in categories that I can’t remember. I attended one more speaker and then we went out to dinner. We settled on Mexican food which was right down th...

What Day is It? - A Fall Break Recap

Image
Here we are. Back from yet another fall break at Ohio Northern. While it is only two days long, it also eats into the school week, giving you a double break. My time on break wasn’t that crazy, but I had some fun though. I still don’t know what day it is, but let me give you a recap of my break. Friday: While not really the start of break, I didn’t have class, so it basically was the first day of break. I grabbed my packed bag and backpack, and left for Columbus. I arrived at my aunt’s house at around 5:30 p.m., dropped some stuff off, and hung out with their new puppy. His name is Gibson, but goes by Gibby (I asked him). I stayed for about an hour and left to try to make it to the Italian market to grab some ingredients. I didn’t make it in time so I just drove to the place I was staying. I get to said place and then meet some friends for some dinner. Saturday: I woke up, and headed to Good Night John Boy to meet up with my friend for the OSU football game. When I got ther...

Brain Dump

Image
Hello. Life has been pretty average this past week. Here are some questions that have been on my mind. "Is the lottery real? Or is it a huge scam. I think its a scam." I have yet to see anyone win any sort of lottery. Therefore it does not exist. "Who invented Greek Yogurt? Like specifically who" I know it was probably the Greeks. I just want to know who the man is that invented the specific version of yogurt. I hope his name was something cool like Yogurtes or Milkus Areleus. "North Sentinel Island hasn't experienced Nerds Clusters." This thought came about when I was thinking about all the stuff isolated people haven't tried before. Nerds clusters was probably the #1 thing that they are missing out on. Judge Judy would be a close second. Followed by techno. "Kia Souls all need to banned" I really hate Kia Souls. They are ugly and probably the worst car in recent years. Get rid of them. Please. I don't know why they still make them....

Hastily Made Cleveland Bachelor Party Recap

Image
As mentioned in last week's blog, last weekend was my brother's bachelor party in Cleveland. Here is a full recap of the events. Friday: I arrive at the AirBnB. It is a nice area. It is very odd though. It seems like the area is halfway gentrified. On one side of the street there was these brand new loft apartments and on the other was a boarded up building. Overall the area was quiet. I get all unpacked and take everything out of my car. Everyone isn't there just yet, so me and my friend take a quick run to the liquor store. Everyone has showed up by the time we got back.  At this point, we have around 7 hours until the concert starts. I decide to crush a quick nap. By the time I wake up, the concert is 4 hours out. We all sit around, listen to music, drink some stuff, and wait for the concert. 9pm rolls around and it is time to get ready for the show. We all change and order an Uber. We get to the venue, and immediately push our way up to the front pit and park ourselves...

Budget Bachelor Party

Image
My brother is getting married in January. I will be the best man for said wedding. This means it is my job to plan a bachelor party for him. Because he decided to get married less than a year after his engagement, I had less than a year to plan a bachelor party. I know he likes a few things. Dance music, bourbon, golf, fishing, and IPAs. I also knew that he would want two guys from Ohio and two guys from New York at the party, also my Dad for some reason. With all this info I settled on going to FWD in Cleveland Ohio to see the DJ John Summit. The same people who own FWD own Good Night John Boy where I DJ at. I asked the owners if my brother could meet John Summit that night, we'll see if that happens. That covers Friday. What about Saturday? We decided on doing nine holes of golf at around 11am. It is out of fishing season unfortunately, but we will be going to a brewery instead. After the brewery, we will be giving my brother his bachelor party gift. A bottle of EH Taylor bourbon...

Ada Ohio Needs a Diner

Image
Ada Ohio is in desperate need of a lot of things, most of those things are related to food. Some people say that Ada needs a nightclub, some people say that it needs another bar, some say Chick Fil A. Those people are all overlooking one of the best, most American restaurant style known to man: a diner.     We don't need a Denny's or any big chain of diners. We just need a locally owned diner, ran by some dude who likes to make pancakes. The closest diner we have is Lulu's which is always packed to the brim on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Plus no one wants to drive all the way out there when hungover.      Can you imagine how incredible it would be to have a 24-hour diner in the heart of Ada? There would be no more issues trying to get food late at night. For some reason food is practically banned after 10pm in Ada, and a Diner would be the easiest fix for that.    Anyways, here are some of my favorite diners: Bville Diner (Baldwins...
